Dec has always had a passion for data and integrating information. After studying computer programming in college, he launched his technology career at 18 as a data entry clerk. Frustrated by the time-consuming manual processes used for compiling weekly reports, Dec leveraged his programming skills to build a simple Access database. This database connected to the dBase system and various data streams, enabling the management team to compile reports in minutes instead of days.

He continued enhancing the system, transitioning it to SQL and Visual Basic, which improved efficiency and provided a user-friendly interface. Within a year, Dec advanced from data entry clerk to IT administrator, overseeing internal software development, network administration, and hardware builds. By 19, he had completed the MSCE training program.

This marked the beginning of a 27+ year career in the technology industry, where data connectivity remained core to his roles. For the past decade, Dec has focused on the smart building sector, recognising the critical role of agnostic middleware in unifying various systems. Observing that many companies fail to fully leverage their technology investments, he founded CoreNx.
